Sustainable Mobility, Sustainability Reporting and Managing Biodiversity – Sparkling Seminar Presentations and Discussions with BMW CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Oliver Zipse at FAU WiSo!
On January 24th, Prof. Dr. Markus Beckmann, Prof. Dr. Marvin Nipper and Prof. Dr. Kai-Ingo Voigt again welcomed three prominent co-hosts from BMW, Prof. Dr. h.c. Oliver Zipse (CEO BMW), Dr. Irene Feige (Head of Climate Strategy and Circular Economy) and Dr. Thomas Becker (VP Sustainability, Mobility BMW) for the final presentations in our seminar “Industry 5.0 – Germany’s Future of Sustainable Industrial Value Creation with BMW”.
In this seminar, we explore Germany’s path towards sustainable industrial value creation. During this semester, 11 motivated students worked on three highly relevant sustainability topics: “Customer Views on Sustainable Mobility”, “Accounting for Climate Risks in Supply Chains” (with a brilliant discussion about possibilities and limits of Sustainability Reporting) and “Assessing and Managing Biodiversity”.
Each presentation led to a lively discussion with our top management guests from BMW, enabling our students to learn more about the Sustainability Management approach of a major German industry firm. After the presentation, Prof. Zipse opened the Q&A-part of our seminar session, answering any questions the students would like to discuss with him, i.e. “How is it like to be a CEO”? His always very sophisticated answers (like “the unavoidability of responsibility” as a CEO) turned this seminar again into a real highlight of the semester!
We warmly thank Prof. Oliver Zipse and his team for the exceptional collaboration throughout this seminar and extend our gratitude to all students for their great presentations in the seminar and the lively discussion afterwards. We look forward to continuing the “Industry 5.0” seminar in the upcoming summer term with further exciting topics on sustainable industrial value creation!
