2/2: Analyzing the semiconductor strategies of global economies in our seminar with Prof. Heinrich v. Pierer
The chip war between the US and China is starting! Or is it? After last week’s presentations on the semiconductor strategies of Japan, South Korea and Germany, in our second presentation session on Monday, January 20th, our highly engaged student teams presented their results on the strategies of the USA and China in our renowned seminar with Prof. Heinrich von Pierer. Right on time for the inauguration of the new (and former) US president, who has called for a tougher line to be taken against China, our students have provided an excellent analysis of how the USA is trying to become less dependent on others while simultaneously isolating China on the semiconductor market. On the other hand, our student group that analyzed China has provided an impressive explanation of how China will continue to play a significant role in the semiconductor industry despite the headwind from Washington. It was once again a pleasure working with our fantastic students and listening to and learning from the endless expertise of Prof. Heinrich von Pierer! We ended the seminar with a joint dinner at a local restaurant, continuing the fruitful conversations.
In the name of all students, Prof. Voigt and Michael Mertel thank Prof. Heinrich v. Pierer and Dr. Ulrich Dörrie for their continuous engagement in our class! We are already looking forward to the summer semester – there is more to come!
