Prof. Voigt is delighted to announce the award of an honorary doctorate to economist Margit Osterloh and BMW CEO Oliver Zipse

On 14th November 2024, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Margit Osterloh was awarded an honorary doctorate from the FAU WiSo for her outstanding contributions to management and organizational research, her sustained impact on science, public debate and business, as well as her dedicated commitment to the FAU, including her long-lasting membership in the University Council. She studied Industrial Engineering at the TU Berlin, obtained her doctorate at the FU Berlin, and habilitated at the FAU in 1990 under the supervision of Prof. Horst Steinmann. She has held esteemed positions at universities worldwide and actively supports FAU committees, including the Dr. Theo and Friedl Schöller Research Centre for Business and Society.

On 8th October 2024, Prof. Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, received an honorary doctorate from the FAU WiSo. Oliver Zipse studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Utah (USA), graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the TU Darmstadt, and completed an Executive MBA programme at WHU Koblenz in cooperation with the Kellogg School of Management (USA). After joining BMW AG in 1991, he held numerous responsible positions. Since 2015 he is a member of the Board of Management and since 2019 Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG. The FAU WiSo honours his efforts in linking business and academia, his commitment in teaching, and promoting scientific publications.
