Prof. Dr. Stefan Asenkerschbaumer at the groundbreaking ceremony for a new chip factory in Silicon Saxony

Prof. Kai-Ingo Voigt and the entire Chair of Industrial Management are delighted that Prof. Dr. Stefan Asenkerschbaumer, Honorary Professor at the Chair of Industrial Management, is making a significant contribution to the future industrial development of Germany.

In his role as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bosch, Prof. Asenkerschbaumer had the honour of breaking the ground for the new ESMC chip factory, together with numerous other high-ranking personalities from German politics and industry. After an introductory welcome by Dr. CC Wei, CEO of TSMC, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Prime Minister of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, emphazised the importance of the plant for the economy.

ESMC is a joint venture between Bosch, TSMC, Infineon Technologies and NXP Semiconductors. The plant is being built near Dresden and will strengthen the Silicon Saxony region for chip manufacturing.
