On July 16th, Prof. Dr. Markus Beckmann, Prof. Dr. Marvin Nipper and Prof. Dr. Kai-Ingo Voigt welcomed three prominent co-hosts from BMW, Prof. Oliver Zipse (CEO BMW), Dr. Irene Feige (Head of Climate Strategy and Circular Economy) and Dr. Thomas Becker (VP Sustainability, Mobility BMW) for the final presentations in our seminar “Industry 5.0 – Germany’s Future of Sustainable Industrial Value Creation with BMW”.

In this seminar, we explore Germany’s path towards sustainable industrial value creation. During this semester, 16 motivated students worked on four highly relevant sustainability topics such as enhancing supply chain transparency, the future of carbon accounting, global sustainability and its complexities, and autonomous and sustainable innovation through AI.

In the afternoon, Prof. Oliver Zipse joined this year’s Innovation Insights Series. Addressing students from the courses “Industrial Management”, “Innovation” and “Technology and Innovation Management”, he delivered an insightful lecture on BMW’s strategy, covering a variety of insights on technology advancements, sustainability strategy and navigating geopolitics.

We warmly thank Prof. Oliver Zipse and his team for the exceptional collaboration throughout this seminar and on this guest lecture and extend our gratitude to all students for their great presentations in the seminar and the lively discussion afterwards. We look forward to continuing the “Industry 5.0” seminar in the upcoming summer term with further exciting topics on sustainable industrial value creation!
