The International Society for Professional Innovation Management (ISPIM) Conference took place in Athens, one of the most historic places of science. Aware of this responsibility, the Chair of Industrial Management was privileged to present its latest findings on blockchain technology and the use of cryptocurrencies.

So far, cryptocurrencies are mostly seen as another form of payment and the core value of blockchain technology is not leveraged by NPOs. In our study “How Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies can Increase Willingness to Donate for NPOs” by Michael Mertel, Lars Friedrich and Kai-Ingo Voigt, we emphasize the value of creating a transparent donation process that allows donors to track their donation. Findings include that cryptocurrencies increase transparency and subsequently trust in the organization, which ultimately leads to a higher willingness to donate. Our research includes several practical implications for NPOs and provides guidance on how to fully exploit cryptocurrencies to create a safe, transparent, and easy way to fund projects globally.

We would like to thank the audience for an amazing discussion, their valuable input, and the many positive and motivating talks afterwards.
