Inspiring guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Siegfried Russwurm
In our lecture series on Industry 4.0, the Chair welcomed Prof. Dr. Siegfried Russwurm, advisory board member of Acatech and former CTO of Siemens. In his speech “Industrie 4.0: Digitale Transformation des Produktlebenszyklus” he showed how digitization and connectivity change business models and value creation against the challenge of future competitiveness. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of a “digital twin” and additive manufacturing for industrial manufacturing processes. In conclusion, Prof. Russwurm argued for the necessity to create acceptance for the concept of Industry 4.0 to accelerate the realization of this novel manufacturing paradigm. His speech was followed by a lively discussion with the student audience. Prof. Voigt and the Chair give thanks to Prof. Russwurm for his visionary speech and look forward to further exchange!
